HMD Global, the company that has been launching Nokia brand smartphones for the past six years, recently announced plans to expand its product portfolio by introducing various HMD brand products including smartphones, tablets, feature phones and IoT devices. According to reports from an external source nokiamob.com, HMD Global's public relations department revealed more details about this new strategy.
The company stated that the reason behind launching their own brand was due to financial challenges in 2022 which prompted them to restructure the company. Additionally, only two years were left before their previous licensing agreement with Nokia expired which allowed them to release only three or four Nokia smartphones.
Furthermore, HMD Global also mentioned that their new multi-brand strategy will include the original products from HMD as well as smartphones from other partners but did not disclose any information regarding specific partners they are working with.
Moreover, the spokesperson emphasized that their main focus is on designing a more sustainable and affordable future for consumers and the telecom industry by launching various models of smartphones and feature phones that prioritize repairability and sustainability which will form the basis of their new "HMD" brand.
It is worth mentioning that HMD Global's website currently features a new brand emblem.
